Prescription Drug Plan Vendor Change to MedImpact

The State of Maryland had announced a change in the prescription drug plan vendor at open enrollment. As of January 1, 2025, the new vendor for the prescription drug plan will be MedImpact. For more information and to print Print Temporary ID Cards, please visit the University HR website.

 


Accessing Your State of Maryland Health Benefits

Please be aware that the PSYCpayroll office does not have access to any employee information related to health plans, health deductions, or the health benefits systems, including the State of Maryland SPS system for password changes or tech support. For any inquiries or assistance regarding your health benefits, please contact UHR directly at askhr.umd.edu.

This resource offers detailed information about the State of Maryland’s health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision plans.


Steps to Access Your Health Benefits:

  1. Visit the Website:
  2. Log In to Your Account:
    • Access your personalized health benefits details by logging in through the Online Benefit System SPS. This will allow you to view specific coverage options, plan details, and make changes.
  3. Review Available Resources:
    • Health plans are à la carte, meaning you can select individual options. For example, medical coverage does not automatically include prescription coverage. It’s important to review these options carefully to tailor your health benefits to your needs.

New Employees

  • As a new employee, you have 60 days from your payroll hire date to choose your benefit programs. Enrollment for benefits will be completed via the State of Maryland SPS Workday system.

Making Changes

  • Open Enrollment
    • Occurs in October and is the primary time you can make changes to your health benefits.
       
  • Qualifying Events:
    • Outside of open enrollment, changes can only be made if you experience a qualifying event, such as:
      • Birth of a child
      • Loss of a dependent
      • Marriage
      • Loss of coverage through a spouse or parent
    • You have 60 days from the occurrence of the qualifying event to make changes to your health benefits. The changes must be because of and consistent with the change in status that has occurred.
